Hola! Estoy tratando de poner mi modem de ADSL en linux Mandrake 10.0. La verdad es que se me complica bastante porque recién estoy empezando en linux, de todas formas no me rindo y sigo tratando. El problema es el siguiente:
Encontré una web donde está el driver para el modem que yo tengo y una documentación para instalarlo, la página es esta http://eciadsl.flashtux.org/index.php?lang=en y la documentación está acá http://eciadsl.flashtux.org/doc.php?file=eciadsl_install&doc_lang=es&view=html , traté de seguir mas o menos todos los pasos que plantea la guia y me las rebusqué bastante, primero tenía problemas para sincronizar el modem pero después lo pude solucionar, a la hora de configurar la conexión (en esta ventana) http://eciadsl.flashtux.org/img/tutorial/capture7_eciconf.sh.png (estos no son mis datos) no se que tengo que elegir en "Select a PPP mode", pero probe todas y ninguna funciona por eso creo que tengo PPPoE y en la guía me dice lo siguiente:
4.1.2 Usuarios PPPoE
Si usted está utilizando PPPoE, usted tiene que configurar y utilizar un cliente PPPoE estándar tal como rp-pppoe (http://www.roaringpenguin.com/pppoe) para conectar su modem ADSL vía tap0.
Entré a la página y me descargué el archivo, los descomprimí y como decía dentro de la web pongo ./go-gui en la carpeta que descomprimí y esto es lo que pasa:

No hace falta correr el comando ./go-gui para instalar el cliente rp-pppoe.
Con solo meterse dentro de la carpeta /rp-pppoe-3.6/src y ejecutar:

Ya es suficiente.
No sé que herramienta traerá Mandrake pero no tiene algo como pppoesetup , pppoe-conf o adsl-setup?.
Si el driver está bien instalado y la interfaz virtual eth1 fue creada entonces tendrías que conectarte tranquilamente.
Por las dudas revisá los ficheros .conf de /etc/ppp y resolv.conf.
Obviamente, también los creados por el driver.

Puedo hacer adsl-setup y configurar los datos de pppoe pero cuando hago adsl-start ni siquiera me detecta el modem cosa que si hace con eciadsl.

Que mala suerte que no puedas conectarte......me fijé en la web y la información que tienen está brutal, te diría que es la mejor que he visto con respecto a modems USB.
Probá ubicar la librería rp-pppoe.so en /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.2 siempre y cuando tengas esa ruta.
Después ejecuta como root un:
Código:# ifconfig
Y leó por ahí que en "Select a PPP mode" tenés que poner VCM_RFC2364.
Pensar que yo creía que la interfaz creada sería ppp0....
Fijate ACA
Ese modem está soportado, así que andar tiene que andar.
SUERTE!.
P.D.: Mandrake sucks. Si ya hiciste tus armitas en Linux no reniegues con Mandrake, más vale Fedora está mejor armadito.

NoXa gracias por tu ayuda, bueno segui probando, me di cuenta que no era necesario instalar rp-pppoe ya que mandrake me lo instalaba solo cuando instalé el driver.
En el manual de eciadsl me dice que ponga la linea Código:eciadsl-doctor si tengo otro problema que no sea el modem (no lo detecta) o la sincronización, hago eso y me da esto:

Lo que dice del conflicto era un error que solucione eliminando el /etc/ppp/options file.

Bueno... ya saque esa g*r*h* de Mandrake y como me dijiste antes instalé Fedora Core 4, sigo teniendo problemas, el inconveniente es cuando tengo que elegir PPP mode, que no se cual tengo que elegir, como me doy cuenta que tengo PPPoE???, en caso de tener PPPoE tengo que instalar el cliente y configurarlo, pero este esta relacionado con eciadsl??? Como podras ver estoy bastante perdido... y ya me dan ganas de tirar este modem de m..... italiano que nadie tiene.

Tranquilo master, ya lo vas a sacar andando.
Vos te bajás e instalás en primer lugar rp-pppoe-3.6.
Ya sabés como se instala y va como seda.
También en esa página vi que hay que bajarse el sincronizador:
http://eciadsl.flashtux.org/download/eciadsl-synch_bin.tar.bz2 Installation instructions :
- unpack eciadsl-synch_bin.tar.bz2 package in /etc/eciadsl
- run eciadsl-config-tk or eciadsl-config-text and follow instructions.
Important: you must shut down your modem between 2 attempts.
Bueno sigo tratando de hacerlo andar, cuando instalo el rp-pppoe-3.6. y agrego una conexion hay determinadas cosas en las que no se que poner, adjunto las cuatro imagenes del PPPoE, no tengo idea que hay que poner...
Con respecto a eciadsl sigo sin saber que poner en PPP mode, si tengo las opciones LLC_RFC2364 o VCM_RFC2364. Lo de "Use DHCP" y "Use static IP" tengo que elegir alguna???
Otra cosa que no entiendo es la relacion del eciadsl con el rp-pppoe, tendria que conectarme con eciadsl o con rp-pppoe, para que sirve cada una???

Esa es también mi gran duda, probá primero hacerlo simplemente con el driver eciadsl y ver si funciona. Después probá a través del cliente rp-pppoe si no tuviste suerte.

Quiero creer que tenés pppoe.conf bien configurado en /etc/ppp.
También chequeá que resolv.conf tenga las líneas:
nameserver DNS 1º
nameserver DNS 2º
Antes de lanzar los comandos para arrancar el modem desenchufalo y volvé a enchufarlo nuevamente.
Una vez que terminaste de configurar el cliente rp-pppoe probá conectarte.

No me di cuenta antes de fijarme en windows cuales eran las opciones que ponia al instalar el driver del modem... Ahora que me fijo dice esto en Encapsulation: RFC 2364 PPPoATM NULL Encapsullation, lo cual quiere decir que todo lo de PPPoE no servia de nada.
Ahora pruebo con la opción VCM_RF2364 y sigue sin andar...

Mirá éste error:

Así se llama en Fedora? Estás seguro qué no deberías usar rp-pppoe?. Es claro que dice que no hay una conexión ppp.
Te falta poco y seguro es una boludez, porque todo lo demás está OK.
Chequeaste las páginas del foro de Fedora qué te dejé?.
Por último fijate que dicen las salidas de éstos comandos:

Este comando no me anda...

Trate configurandolo, pero igual no hace nada... una duda que tengo en esto es que tengo que poner en interface...

Si de esto estoy totalmente seguro, eso es para usuarios con PPPoE y yo uso PPPoATM, lo termine de confirmar en el faq de eciadsl que dice que la primera opcion de elegir PPP (VCM_RF2364) es tambien conocida como RFC 2364 PPPoATM NULL.

Probe estos comandos que me decis el primero me da información del sistema y despues trata de conectar pero pasa lo mismo que poniendo eciadsl-start.
Lo que creo que tendria que hacer es crear una conexión PPP, pero no se que hay que hacer...
Cuando intenta conectar usa siempre la interfaz ppp0 ¿Es esa la que tengo que usar?

Gracias por el aliento, estoy ancioso tratando de hacer que ande pero no me quiero ilucionar... cada vez que consigo algo para probar pienso que va a andar pero no....
Después de haber creado esa conexión pppsetup ¿controlaste qué su fichero .conf esté correcto?.
A mi por ej. el modem USB me crea una conexión ficticia eth1 que cuando hago ifconfig me la levanta pero en realidad hablamos de la interfaz ppp0 que también deberías ver.
Insisto, no te dés por vencido porque si el driver está bien instalado y parcheado debería funcionar.

y como me dijiste antes instalé Fedora Core 4, sigo teniendo problemas, el inconveniente es cuando tengo que elegir PPP mode, que no se cual tengo que elegir, como me doy cuenta que tengo PPPoE???, en caso de tener PPPoE tengo que instalar el cliente y configurarlo, pero este esta relacionado con eciadsl??? Como podras ver estoy bastante perdido... y ya me dan ganas de tirar este modem de m..... italiano que nadie tiene.
