Ayuda con Interfaz Grafica Red Hat 5.1

hola poseo un dico de 251 mb en el que tengo instalado el red hat 5.1, todo funciona bien a pesar del espacio escaso... el problema surge cuando quiero iniciar un escritorio de linux la imagen sale pero en un tamaño desproporcionado, casi imposible de ver.
he probado alterar todos los archivos que pudiesen tener que ver con esto pero sin suerte.
Espero que alguien sepa que debo hacer.

Sí, que la resolución de tu pantalla es inferior al tamaño de tu escritorio.

Lo que tienes que hacer es ajustar el tamaño del escritorio virtual para que sea igual al de la pantalla.

Ve al archivo de configuración de X11, se llama XF86Config y suele estar bajo /etc/X11. Como root edítalo y busca la sección Screen:

Section "Screen"

dentro de ella la SubSection "Display".

Allí tienes los modos de vídeo, por ejemplo

Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"

La primera es la resolución por defecto, ajusta el tamaño del escritorio virtual al tamaño de la resolución por defecto, agregando la siguiente línea (que en este caso sería):

Virtual "1024x768"

Hola pese a que pense seria la respueta y la solucion me equivoque y sigo con el problema.
He buscado la seccion que mencionastes, pero cuando cambie el parametro me salto que no podia conectar al server etc...
¿Hay alguna otra forma?

¿Cuál era tu resolución por defecto? La primera de la lista Modes.

Si querés pegá en el post tu XF86Config par aque podamos verlo.

hola aca les pego el archivo de XF86Config mi placa de video es onboard y es una SIS 530 y el monitor no se que marca es prque no lo dice y es de 800 x 600
