HELP for changing modem router

This post was translated, if you want to see the original version click here
Hello YoReparo friends,

I want to change my old ZTE ZXV10 W300 modem router for a new one. My connection is 15 Mb (broadband / ADSL / Home Line) from Ex-Telefónica now Movistar. The two I saw that interest me are the TP-Link Router AC1200 Wireless or TP-Link Router AC1750 (Archer C7) . I ask you which one I would recommend of these for my connection, if there will be an improvement in speed, if it is worth it or there are other options. I like the benefits of these routers, since I do a lot of streaming. What do you advise me?

I thank you very much for your response,
Regards.

The speed will not improve with a new router. The speed is already set by the rush or service that the company provides. 15MB are not very good (does not say if it is symmetrical, but for stream it is a joke (I have 60MB in fiber optic and sometimes there is lag) please do not be offended, I just raise my opinion. As for the router any of those is very Well, choose the third one, the WIFI coverage is very well supported and the quality is superior.

Hi Mariano, look, felt connection is by home phone line (rj11) what you need is a MODEM ROUTER. Therefore I keep the tplink ac 1200 https://www.tp-link.com/ar/home-networking/dsl-modem-router/archer-vr400/
You will have stability in dual band and tweet if you want but repeat again .. check that you have the entry of your internet service that I assume is by telephone cable. Rj11.

I hope I have cleared your doubt.

It is right. If you have RJ11 connection, look for one with that input.

He commented that in your case the speed of 15 Mb for streaming is good, if it is for 1080p you should not have any problems ... Problems with streaming occur at any speed 15, 60 or 100 Mb when the service company does not keep you the more or less constant speed, this is that frequent descents or declines occur. Also do not forget that you also have to see the server or website from which you are downloading streaming, if it hangs you will have problems even if you have more than 100 mb and download 480 or 720 p ...

Obviously, if your whole family uses youtube, Netflix, etc. at the same time then if you have to think about increasing speed Greetings!

Thanks Leandrohz, I will take it into account. Yes, it is by telephone entry, does the 1200 have a record Rj11? The entrance forks to the splitter that goes one to the modem and another to the phone.

If there I looked at the specifications. The 1200 has Rj11 input which is common for all telephone entries.

Haha thanks Mariano, a hug. ????????

With 15Mbps you are at the limit (if not a little past since more speed of 13Mbps is of stable maintenance of doubtful form) of what a telephone line or pair of Cu can give.

I doubt that changing the modem you achieve something significant in speed (unless the one you have already has problems in itself).

If you need router-level management improvements, leave the modem and place it in bridge mode and buy a router with professional management software such as Mikrotik (hAP Lite TC, HAP mini, RB941, RB952, etc)
where you can mark packages and assign priority within the network and much more.

Thanks ricbevi, for the previous comment. Because they made me dizzy a little and my query was concrete. I am going to buy the AC1200 which is a modem / router and has ADSL Rj11 input, the AC1750 is just a router and does not have the input I need. I don't have fiber optics, I'm not going to hire it because I don't want wiring inside the department. And even if you don't believe it with 15 mb I stream on several devices at the same time without LAG. Regards!

In Argentina there is internet that can serve you to stremear (I tell it from my experience that I live in Argentina, from other countries I don't know): Arnet 20 megabytes (minimum) gives you 6 MBPS of upload (I could serve you to stremear in any quality), Fibertel de 20 megabytes (minimum) gives you 2.5 MBPS (it will help you to stremear in 720p) and Telecenter of 20 Megabytes (minimum) gives you 2 MBPS of upload (it will help you to streme by scratching the lowest quality). The only thing I recommend is that you do not scratch the bitratio because you will have packet loss (LAG while playing) or the stream will look awful. It is advisable to: Hire 20 megabytes of Arnet (or more), more than 20 megabytes in Fibertel or More than 20 megabytes in Telecentre. If you live in Uruguay, Antel offers very good high speed internet services, exceeding 30 megabytes you can stremear without any problem. In Chile VTR works quite well exceeding 20 megabytes, Movistar performs only if you have hired a plan exceeding 30 megabytes and the rest I don't know. It all depends on the Zone in which you live. Summarizing: You need a PC almost Gamer or Gamer and an internet of 20 megabytes or more to stremear without putting your PC at risk or that of LAG in the middle of the game.

I recommend doing a speetest before choosing the quality of your stream bitrate.

Find one applicable to your country.

Read the slogan ... the consultant has 15Mb of ADSL line of Cu telephone pair and ask if it will improve streaming when changing the modem / router, IT DOES NOT HAVE FIBER.
